Owner Operator Insurance

If you're an owner operator, you fall into one of two main categories:

Leased Owner Operators - Your only insurance concern if you're leased on to a company will be bobtail/non-trucking liability and physical damage. The primary determining factor in the cost of your policy will be the value of your truck, influenced by the make, model and year.

Owner Operators with Authority - As an independent trucker operating under your own authority, you will be responsible for both the cargo and liability coverage on your vehicle. Insurance is not cheap, but it is possible to minimize the premium you pay by comparing quotes from many different companies. A number of factors can affect the premium you pay. Here are some of the most common:

  • Your SAFER score from the FMCSA

  • Your credit score

  • Your CDL experience

  • Your MVR

  • Logging violations

It is crucial to make sure that you have the right cargo insurance for the load you're carrying. If you claim an intent to carry dry goods, and a claim occurs on a load that includes hazmat, not only will you not be covered, but you're likely to have your policy cancelled.

If this sounds complicated, that's because it is. We make it simple by taking care of it for you. We compare as many as a dozen quotes from competing companies, including calling some of them back to inform them of their competitors quote to force them to offer a lower rate. We fight for you. We will hold your hand through the entire process and ensure the T's are crossed and the I's are dotted. We've been helping truckers for more than thirty years, and we'd be honored to help you succeed.
